Default what to do in Germany?

I am going to Germany for business early in october and was wondering if anyone could suggest some fun stuff to do on my free time (mostly at night after 8pm or so) i will be in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Koblenz, Wiesbaden, Rhöndorf and Düsseldorf. just some suggestions from anyone that has been, or lives in the areas would be cool.

Talking I grew up in Germany!

My father was in the military and I lived in Germany from age 5 to age 13. That was a while back but I do know a little about the area. I lived in Weisbaden and was only a half-hour away from Frankfurt. You could take a ride on the Rhine river and see all the castles on each side of it. You could go to the Black Forest (though it may be a little far - can't quite remember). You could go on a volksmarch (hiking in the woods). Their trees are beautiful. There are many places to go. I am vague because I having been there in years, but I hope this helps a little. OH! Definitely go to their bakeries if you like baked goods. Try Curyworst! I love it!

Go to a beer hall. Trust me on this one.

While Berchtesgaden is definitely a very nice town, it's probably a little far off of your route.

Count Feanor's suggestions are pretty good. You should definitely try to visit a castle, maybe with a guided tour (I'd assume they also give tours in english). Burg Eltz is very beautiful and not far from Koblenz.

Hmm, early October, 8pm... maybe you could visit Rhein in Flammen ("Rhine in flames", big fireworks).

I had heard that Germany is really depressing right now. They are so sad as a nation that the government actually is starting an add campaign with famous Germans telling the citizenry to become happier. (And that's just sad when the government has to tell you to be happy)

But definately riding down the Rhine would be something to do. Maybe a beer hall visit or two.

You mean the Oktoberfest? That's in Munich and it's over at October 3rd. But unless you like to get yourself plastered it's nothing you have to see when visiting Germany.

Oh, by the way, you're right TheEPIC. While it is common knowledge that Germans don't have any sense of humor anyway, right now with all that weak economy and mass-unemployment people are just sitting around all day, mopeing. Problem is, the most miserable of all is the government (especially in it's current state).
